Overview

Ibn Zohr University Business School (ENCG Agadir) is pleased to announce the organization of the 2nd International Banking & Finance Research Conference (2nd IBFRC).

The conference will take place in Agadir, Morocco on 29-30 October 2025. It aims at bringing together scholars from all over the world for exchange of ideas, discussion of recent results within theoretical and applied research in banking and finance related fields.

Dr. Jamal Ouenniche, Professor and Chair in Business Analytics at the University of Edinburgh Business School, UK.

Dr Ouenniche is Professor and Chair in Business Analytics at the University of Edinburgh Business School (UK), Member of the Senate, Member of the Business School Executive Board, Head of the Management Science and Business Economics group, and Director of the MSc in Business Analytics. He holds a BSc in Mathematics and MSc in Operational Research from the University of Montreal (Canada), and a PhD in Operations Management from Laval University (Quebec, Canada).

His research portfolio encompasses a broad range of applications and a variety of research methodologies in descriptive, predictive and prescriptive analytics, and tackles important managerial issues in energy, manufacturing, transport, banking, and public sector policy. Some of his research is concerned with methodological contributions to the fields of optimisation, artificial intelligence, data envelopment analysis, risk modelling and analysis, and forecasting.

He acts as a Referee for over 30 academic journals, several international conferences, and several national and foreign research councils (e.g., ESRC - The Economic and Social Research Council of the UK; The Leverhulme Trust, UK; SSHRC - The Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada; FCT - The Foundation for Science and Technology – the Portuguese public research funding agency; GACR - The Czech Science Foundation – the main public funding agency in the Czech Republic).

He is also a Member of the Editorial Board of several academic journals. His research is published in high quality academic journals such as:  Operations Research; European Journal of Operational Research; Computers and Operations Research; Journal of Optimization Theory and Applications; Expert Systems with Applications; International Journal of Operational Research; Journal of the Operational Research Society; Annals of Operations Research; International Journal of Production Economics; International Journal of Production Research.

 

 

Dr. Meziane Lasfer, Professor of Finance at Bayes Business School, City St George's, University of London, UK.

Lasfer

Professor Meziane Lasfer is a distinguished academic in the field of finance. He holds a PhD in Finance from the London School of Economics and the University of Bath. His career began as a research fellow at City University Business School, where he later became a professor. Over the years, he has directed the Cass Business School PhD programme and the MSc Finance course, and has served as Associate Dean for Research and Knowledge Transfer.

Lasfer has published extensively in top international academic journals such as The Journal of Finance, Journal of Financial Economics,Journal of International Financial Markets, Institutions and Money, and Journal of Banking and Finance, covering topics such as dividend policy, capital structure, taxation, corporate governance, and corporate restructuring. His research has been widely cited and reported in the press. He has also been involved in executive education, teaching finance courses to professionals at Goldman Sachs, KPMG, Lloyds-TSB, Deloitte, and other institutions.

Additionally, he has held visiting professor positions at HEC Paris, University Paris Dauphine, EDHEC Business School in Nice, and Catolica University in Lisbon. His contributions to finance research have earned him multiple awards for teaching excellence (first Dean's Prize for Teaching Excellence in 1998, 2003, 2006 and 2008).
